Shodo Canada is dedicated to furthering the practice of Japanese Calligraphy and bringing it to a global community to experience and share the beauty and skill of this ancient art form. The organization was founded in conjunction with the first Annual Japanese Calligraphy Competition in Canada in 2008 under the guidance of its director, Sensei Noriko Maeda.
The 2024 Calligraphy Competition Exhibition Is Now Online!
Shodo Canada is proud to commemorate the 17th edition of its Annual Japanese Calligraphy Competition in Canada with its virtual exhibition opening.
We invite everyone to attend the online Award Ceremony on November 3rd at 2pm. To view the ceremony online, please register for the event via the Award Ceremony link.
Each year Shodo Canada organizes the Annual Japanese Calligraphy Competition in Canada, and exhibits the winning entries in November. The event draws an audience and participation from across the nation. It showcases the talents of an immensely passionate community of students in the art, many of whom study Shodo with Maeda Sensei in a series of classes and workshops at the JCCC and other venues.
